With the exception of the time I “upgraded” from Windows 98 to Windows Millennium Edition (and then immediately back again) I’ve never experienced tech whiplash like I have with Apple’s MacBooks. For comparison, the standard MacBook Air weighs only 1.35 kilograms (2.96 pounds). Only five of these laptops exists, each weighing around 7 kilograms (15.4 pounds). The Apple logo on the back is encrusted with 53 diamonds and sapphire gems. Worth $480,000, this laptop from Stuart Hughes, a brand known for combining technology and luxury, is made entirely out of solid platinum. MacBooks in and of themselves are already considered to be on the expensive side of the spectrum for laptop computers, but the platinum-encased MacBook Air takes the cake.
